Grace Christian School uses a purposeful and strong curriculum that challenges students to do their best.  Built around the A Beka Christian Curriculum, this course of studies features an academically accelerated and integrated spiraling curriculum.

Integrated

Similar topics are taught in all subject areas, integrating those subjects together.  A student learning about cells in science might find the word “nucleus”on his or her spelling list.  A student reading about WWII in history may discover a short story about a soldier in the war in his/her English homework.  These recurring topics reinforce a student’s mastery of all academic subjects.

Spiraling

A spiraling curriculum builds on previously learned material.  Mastering a subject is a process that should cross over into multiple grade levels.  Concepts learned in second grade, such as multiplication and division, solving for “X”, capitalization, and punctuation are reviewed in the A Beka curriculum through the following grades.  Having a well-developed foundation of knowledge prepares each student to grow and master more advanced concepts.

Bible Based

Grace Christian School places a special emphasis on God’s view of history and science, especially in the area of creation.  We believe God’s Word, the Bible, to be true and accurate in recording how our world was created.  His word is vital to any genuine intellectual growth and academic success.  This philosophy has underscored our decision to use Rod and Staff curriculum.

Rod and Staff

Rod and Staff Bible Reading Curriculum is a Bible based and Christ focused learning tool.  It takes a traditional approach to Christian education, having proven itself over numerous years in a variety of school settings.  Each student has his or her own workbook as they read from Creation through the Old Testament to the life of Christ and the early church.  Each grade has a Bible based textbook, which is designed to make the student conscious of God.  This curriculum not only teaches the Bible, but uses many illustrations of how Biblical principles can be applied to everyday life.

Academic Subjects

Grace Christian School places heavy emphasis on core subjects.  Besides the basics of math, reading, and language, students will study Bible, phonics, spelling, penmanship, history, science, music, art, and PE.  All subjects are “hands on” with old fashioned paper and pencils engaging both body and mind in the learning process.  While the idea of using books, paper, pens and pencils may seem old fashioned, Grace Christian School’s results on the standardized test are impressive.
